Members:
The Atlanta Citizen Review Board has decided that since we are exercising our rights under the 5th amendment and not allowing the ACRB to roll over our officers due process rights, they are sustaining complaints without your statements. It seems that our “fair and unbiased” ACRB has decided that if they don’t get what they want, they will sustain complaints against our officers anyway. If you are contacted to report to the ACRB, make sure you contact the Union office to have a representative accompany you to their office to exercise your rights. Here is a quote from the Chairman, Rod Edmonds, in a recent letter to Chief Pennington showing their desire to sustain complaints without a full, impartial and fair investigations:
"The officers and the sergeant refused to give statements to the Atlanta Citizen Review Board investigator. The investigation was carefully considered by the full Board and a recommendation was made to you to sustain the allegation of excessive force and to impose discipline which is consistgent with department guidelines."
